There's a trick new product on the market designed to protect the body mounts on your Wrangler. Kilby Enterprises has developed a clever set of skid plates that are remarkably simple, yet effective.

They're called Body Clamz, and are designed to sandwich the frame mount to protect the exposed factory mounts from rocks, downed trees or whatever else you can toss at them.

This product is made of 3/16" steel, and supplied with stainless hardware for installation. The install is a breeze, and is easily done in a couple of hours. They are compatible with all aftermarket suspension kits, and can be used with or without a body lift.
In fact, the install was so easy, there are only a couple of tips I can provide. First, the rear-most Clamz bracket for both sides is slightly smaller, so be sure you don't try and install the wrong one in that location. And second, the supplied instructions direct you to mark the holes that will be drilled through the frame mount, then remove the Clamz bracket to drill the hole. While that's probably good advice as well as the correct way to do it, I took a shortcut and center punched the hole location and drilled away without removing the bracket. Be warned however, if you take the shortcut I did, you run the risk of grinding the powdercoat finish away and the product will be more susceptible to rust. Not an issue if you live in the desert like I do, but if you are in the rust belt you're going to regret not following the directions.
