Millermatic 140 Auto-Set Welder As Jeep owners, sooner or later we all come to a point when having a welder would make a project much easier, or at least cheaper. The more you build your Jeep, the more having a welder around the shop can be a huge asset; however, not everyone has a big shop, or a 220volt wiring system readily available to handle a large industrial welder, or the training to run a bigger welder. So most people just assume they can’t get a quality welder, because of room, proper wiring, or ease of use. Well Miller Electric has the answer, with their Millermatic 140 Auto-Set welder, a high quality welder, that’s small and compact and runs on 120 volt power, and has “Auto-Set”, a breakthrough control that automatically sets your welder to the proper parameters for your materials. Auto-Set offers an all-in-one MIG setup, minus the guesswork! Simply set the wire diameter, set the material thickness, and start welding!

The Millermatic 140 Auto-Set welder is a good welder for light to medium duty work. It’s the perfect choice for a small garage due to its small size, and the ability to run on 120 volt power. If you rent an apartment and aren’t able to rewire your garage for 220 volt, or you don’t want to pay to have your garage rewired, this is a perfect choice. The Auto-Set feature makes it the perfect first welder for the home mechanic. Even if you’ve never welded before, Miller makes it very easy to get started with their Setup-CD that walks you through everything you need to know to get your welder setup and ready to go. The Auto-Set features insure you get all the proper settings dialed in. Link to a short video explaining auto-set: http://www.millerwelds.com/swf/swf.php?swf=autoset_550x400.swf

The 140 Auto-Set welder is rated to weld 24 gauge (0.8mm) all the way up to 3/16 in (4.8 mm) mild steel, which is more the enough for most typical Jeep projects. Building bumpers, rock-rails, or any other minor Jeep projects are no problem for this welder. While suspension and axle work isn’t recommended, the 140 Auto-Set welder is still up to the task of getting everything all tack welded into place, so it can be properly welded later.
I’ve used this welder more than I ever dreamed I would before I got it, just knowing it’s there makes Jeep repairs so much easier. From welding a nut onto a broken bolt to make removal easier, to saving money on custom bumper fabrication, having a quality welder around will speed up all your Jeep repairs and projects.
