OK well dont feel dumb, we all gotta start from somwhere. When you say "exhaust" that is all the pipes and devices that help to get all the burned fuel and air out of the engine. This include the headers which attach directly to the engine (you have an exhaust manifold now), the downpipe (just a length of pipe), the catolytic converter (burns more of the unburned gases for better emissions), then the exhaust muffler. If you really want the best for your Jeep you eventually want to replace it all with hi performance stuff. I started with the muffler (Borla), it gives a nice sound and a little hp. Then I did the down pipe (nothing special but my original busted) and got a hi flow cat. Now I want to get headers. It doesnt really matter where you start but headers are a GREAT place.
Hope that helps
Jeff
