3.7 Cold start fast idle

I've got a '04 3.7 with 62K. Car is very well maintained. When started cold the idle goes up to 2000 and will not come back down until it's completely warm. The CEL light is on intermittently. The idle would usually kick up on the car for maybe 5 seconds and then settle when started cold. Now it's hanging up. It's something in the the cold start circuit. Maybe the TPS? Any ideas? try reading the code first, it might point you in the right direction. let us know what the code is. mike

The fast idle still exists this morning but the CEL is out. I plugged the reader in and it shows no faults which is odd as I thought it always trapped the past events. At any rate, I'll try to get the code when the CEL is on.

The code is PO122. I took the sensor off and cleaned the connections as well as the portion that mates to the thorttle body. I cleared the code and it did not come back on. We'll see. I'll put a new TPS in next week.

thats where i would start. i believe a tps isn't that expensive. mike
