crazy thing happened yesterday....
I was getting off the expressway...and i was about to the end of the exit ramp..when all of a sudden my jeep started losing all power...almost as if i was out of gas....i downshifted and it was still "bogging" on me....then it backfired and all power was back...any idea what might have caused this? and is there something i should do to prevent this from happening again...it scared the crap out of me...luckily it happened when i was getting off the expressway. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the cat was clogged, but the backfire cleared it out.
Or you had a temporary ignition problem that cause you to lose power, which dumped excess fuel in the exhaust and then the ignition kicked back in, you got the backfire as well. Just some thoughts.

Did this happen with the YJ or the CJ? I see that the trans is messed-up with the CJ, or did you get it back together, & have been testing it out?
