i have just replaced my wheel bearings on the front of my cj7. and when i took it for the test run, the wheel is havening the hardest time turning. to start off with, i did leave the tire off for 2 days in the rain and the new rotor is rusted now, but i figured that would go away after i broke the pads in. but my question is, could the spindle lock nuts be on too tight. i only put them on by hand then, took a flat head and lightly taped them a little further on with a hammer. so does anyone have any idea what the cause to be.

Jack the %@^& thing up, pull the wheels, pull the calipers and see for yourself!
You quite clearly didn't adjust the wheel bearings by the proper procedure. Did you even check rotation before putting it all together? Did you bend the lock washer back over the outer nut? Did you use the inner tabbed washer? No matter what, you need to pull it apart and do it right. This time use the correct socket and torque wrench and adjust the bearings properly. I'd also highly recommend removing and inspecting the bearings. Running them too tight can damage them quickly. |
