Icon312 regearing with 31s

I have 31 12.50 15 tires and am wanting to upgrade my gears. I am new to this part of stuff and do not know what to go with. I got the 3.07 in them now. what should i go up to? Its a lil sluggish, not real bad but would like it to be a lil bit quicker plus the gas mileage might go up a lil too. how much will i see my mileage going up? Thanks for all the input

Wait and upgrade the rear at the same time. Try to find someone who's selling a D44 with a front axle that are already geared and locked.

I bought axles with 4.10s in them and swapped them into my jeep, a little low with 31s, but I was also planning on going to bigger tires.

I have a similar set up on my 2005 TJ, except I have the manual. What kind of decrease in mileage will I see if I go to 31's and stay with the 3.07 gears?

I get a little over 19 highway and about 16.5-17 city with this setup (31's with 3.07 gears). I never noticed a decrease in mpg, but there is a decrease in power in 5th gear on the highway.

I would wait to regear when you decide to go bigger, the cost to get 3.73s installed now and then regear again a few years later doesn't make much sense to me. I'd wait and save the money for Dana 44 or an 8.8 with the gears you want, it will end up being the same price, if not less, than what you are considering doing now.

I was getting 11 mpg with 31's and 3.07's I was forced to switch to my stock tires again, it had no power for hills (had to go to second gear) and it wouldnt move out ofits own way in 5th gear... I am now getting 15mpg..... I just bought some 3.73 gears.... hopefully I can slap the 31's on again and keep it the same as it is now......:chugger: Sad part is I have a 95 mustang with 450 rwhp and it gets 11 mpg sooo it was time to regear......
