So here in Michigan, we got about 3-4 inches of snow (which is nothing basically) but given that it was about 16 degrees, some of the un-plowed side roads turned to an icy-snowy mix. I purchased the Fortera Tripple Tread a couple ofmonths ago and I wasn't exactly sure how they would hold up this winter; but so far, I'm really impressed. I tried going relatively fast around turns - where no traffic/other cars or ditches were present...don't want to get in a wreck - and there was a tiny slipping feeling, but then it would pull right through. In accompany of the 4X4 system (yeah, yeah, I know I have Quadra-Trac I..."it's not real 4X4"...I've heard it all on this forum), the tires did a really good job. With stock, there were a lot more slipping on the same conditions. Hopefully I can test them out in deeper snow, but as of now, I'm really impressed and glad I made the ivestment of getting them...because there were a lot cheaper options available.

I'm really pleased with the dry and wet performance of my Triple Treads too. Haven't had a chance to try them in the snow yet

You do realize that 4X4 systems only help the vehicle go straight from a dead stop and nothing else.

Even with Quadra-Trac I, on a turn, when the rear wheels loose traction, the front wheels will start pulling. If you know how to drive in those kind of conditions, it's an added benefit. Quote:

I've had my Triple Treads for several months now, and their performance in dry conditions, rain, and snow have been extremely impressive!!
And with 15+" of rain in November, they did get a workout!! Cheers!! Ken

from what i see, for road use the triple treads are decent, albeit pricey tires.
a set of pirelli scorpion ATR's will do everything that the triple treads do, for less $$, and have better traction off road. my gf needed new tires for her 04 4runner v8 awd, and we looked at the fortera triple treads, the silent armoe wranglers, revo's, and scorpion ATR's. we wnet scorpion ATR's, and i have tested them in evry kind of condition in the 3 weeks we have had them on, well, ice, snow, deep snow, heavy rain and dry pavement. i am extremely impressed with them. for jeeps that are off road more often, the revo is arguably a slightly better tire than the scorpion ATR. either are less money than either goodyear, and you can at least get them. good year has been on strike for a while now, and stock at dealerships is low, tire size depending... also, good years seem to wear out quicker than all the other brands of tire i have ever tried. and thats quite a few (GY, michelin, bridgestone, pirelli, dunlop, kumho, sumitomo, and probably a few others i am forgetting) |
