Hello all...I have an '01 GC Limited and I am having the same blend door issues as everyone else. I am going to attempt the fix myself but I'm not sure where to buy the replacement parts. Do I buy the parts I need from a local dealer? Or are there any other places I would be able to find the parts I need? I've read about the Heater Treater fix and although it seems it fixes the problem, I don't want to go in and start chopping things up. Also, if i buy the parts from a dealer, am I getting the same parts that will break again in another few years? Or are they redesigned to remedy the design flaw? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The shop that did the work did the full recommended fix. They have new door stop, new updated blend doors, and new updated motors. The guy had done tons of this fix, and said that the motors are updated to have less power and stronger doors.

A buddy of mine just lost his blend doors. He was just going to get them fixed. But I talked him into letting me help him. I wanted to see one, now since I'm sure since you guys say they all do it. I'll be ready, I can machine the parts as required. When were in since his is a 99 or 00 we are going to replace the heater and a/c cores can get both for under 400 anyway. From what I have read hear the blend door repair shouldn’t take much in parts. So for less then this would cost at a shop this jeep should have heat and air for long while. On a side note I suspect that heater treater pro kit would be good choice. Still got to rip that dash out but it’s a metal fix not plastic unlike OEM. And if you got to do it do it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wonder how many didn’t buy LTD because this fix scared them off. Just my 2 cents Alex

I just had mine done. 2003 Overland. 99000 kms. I had that done along with the $400 service done.....for a grand total of $2048. On a car with less than 60k miles.
Side rant: The dealer gave it back to me with low coolant and missing the dust cap on the 12V outlet.

Dealers,, !! Figure with the money you give them they would take better care ! When I had mine done, they took out the whole dash, when they put it back they scratched the columns beside the windshield and cut my armrest. I had them fix both. And I had them give me a loaner because I had to leave my Jeep there again.

Very nice! I gotta say though....after this last episode, I'm liking mine less and less. I actually tried to sell it last year. Not a single inquiry. I had it up on Hebdo, kijiji, and lespac....not a single call!

MMIke.. I was considering selling mine too while it's running great.I like the Jeep Patriot looks pretty good and easy on gas. Buy selling it now we would get next to nothing. Really sucks,, so keep it and enjoy it. I had my vette for sale all summer maybe I had 3 calls ,, seems like no one is buying anything these days. Oh well next spring !

It took me a few months but I finally got up the courage to order the blend door fix from heatertreater.net. There were a couple of quirky things, my hand is a little scraped but $120 and 1/12 ours later my passenger side has heat again. When I took the old doors out it was exactly like all of you read, the crappy plastic piece broke and the door got stuck, blocking the heat. The new one is real solid. The directions were good, about as good as they could be with good photos. I had a bit of trouble getting the new blend doors in, I hope they are tightly screwed in. I can probably do the whole job now in an hour or less.
If you need the fix, go for it. I opted for the one that is controlled by single switch, no big deal to have single control. |

I used the excellent write up at wjeeps and BobBarry's. I did the whole job this weekend. Parts shipped were $345. That was for the new doors, heater core and recirc. It is not that hard. Takes some time. I wouldn't hesistate on doing it again. i bet it would be quicker now since I know exactly where everything is located.

I just got the bad news. same problem. sent it to my mechanic. and it was 950 for him to do it. He also found a leaky evaporator core as well, and changing that. stinkin chrysler dealer wanted to charge 400 for that evaporator core, but he found an aftermarket one for 160, so we're going with that. Hopefully, by tomorrow, everything will be working again.
All that plus replacing the radiator fan, thermostat, cooling system flush, transmission flush, and new front rotors/brakes (didn't have the warping problem, just time). i think i'm missing something else... cuz it snowballed into this ridiculous fix. 2500 bucks to fix it. thinking about it now.... it wasn't worth it for a 2001 limited, but now that it's done... the car better keep going for another 5 years at least. |

Hello, I had my 2002 GC Limited blend air and recirc doors replaced by my mechanic using the HeaterTreater Pro parts. I now have heat on the passenger side. But, there is creaking/ clicking sounds as I adjust the heating/ AC controls. I understand that upon startup and turning off the engine the unit will make this noise as it calibrates. I have read about this symptom and it could mean the doors or some other component is getting ready to go bad. The mechanic would not guarantee his work on this fix and cannot explain the noise. Has anyone else expereinced this issue after install?
Thanks, APROD |

just curious I'm getting ready to order the fix from ebay and theres two different companies. The heater treater from Allen Automotive and The blend door store. They both seem to claim to be the original anyone have exsperence with either company. I'm going with the dash removal kit. I have a problem with cutting and gluing or taping my air box back together.

Hi,
I had the HeaterTreater Pro blend and recirc doors installed along with a new heater core about 3 weeks ago. So far so good. The parts are very well made. I had posted about the new parts being noisey (creaking) but that seems to be normal. Chris at HT is very helpful so you have some tech suppport if you have a question. He also has a website and video of the job on youTube. I chose the HT parts over the other because I liked the curved end of the doors rather than the squared off ends, more aerodynamic. Good Luck. |
