The Pontiac GTO is based on the Australian Holden Monaro.

It's got a 6.0L V8 - 400hp 400lb-ft

And one of the best sounding exhaust notes I've ever heard.

Both of the vehicles in the video were most likely purchased from the US for a hefty fee. The video was taken from an airstrip. Not sure where, but I believe in Germany as the posters screen name is "BahnBurner" (as in Auto Bahn :winky: )

I have a better video of a GTO v SRT8, not mine I just found it on the interent. Anyone know where I can host it? Basically the Jeep pulls on the GTO HARD, at least 4-5 cars. The GTO catches up at 150mph, but who cares.

Don't know where you can host, but PLEASE do!! Just post the link. I would like to see it as I am currently talking with some guys over on the GTO forum about the video. Some of them simply find it hard to believe just how quick these things are.

BTW - the SRT in your video, is it modded, or stock?

Here you go! I didnt think I had a link for it but I do. According to the video the jeep is bone stock, but the GTO is the first model, didnt they increase the hp the last couple years? The video says they caught up at 120 mph, but if you listen the guy in the car says 140. The video is in the GTO.

Again I dont know anyone involved, i simply found the link.

It is hard to tell if the jeep left early, which is why he got that big of a lead. who knows.

Its really hard to launch a stock GTO w/o getting wheel hop, then aerodynamics took over later. The GTO might have been doing 140 when it passed the Jeep.

Btw, I can't believe they were driving that fast on a public street. You see the stoplight at the end? :naw:

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I would NEVER bring the Beast up to speeds like that on a public road, especially one that people may actually be crossing on foot!

They say 140 but I think it's KPH, not MPH. 140 KPH is 87 MPH. If they were really going 140 MPH, the road signs and road markings would be going by a lot faster.

No way. If it took a GTO THAT long to get to 87 mph it would be a school bus. They are going 140 mph. It takes well over 10 seconds for that gto to pass.

As with the "mighty" STI, AWD does have it's advantages in a race.

I have no problems with a SRT8 WK beating a GTO by a little bit, but 4-5 car lengths equals a REALLY bad driver in the GTO.

Remeber though, that was an 04 GTO (I believe at that point they only had 350 hp compared to the 05 that has 400 hp).
