Default Some Pics of the BDS 6" & AA SYE pre install..

Kit came in the other day so I took some pictures prior to installing it. There are pictures of both the BDS kit and SYE from Advanced Adapters.

Kit looks very strong overall. Found out it requires you to totally remove the rear trac bar (hope I dont fail inspection because of that) and does not include a transfer case drop. I was supprised by that, even though I know your supposed to use a CV shaft just thought they would still include one for $1200+.

I'll post pictures along the way during the install.

Later,
Craig

No offense, but here's my opinion on this kit:
Hope your kidneys are healthy, they're going to be bruised from the ride. I have the BDS 3.5" kit, and it rides like crap. It flexes like mad, but the ride is horrible. I can't imagine what the 6" kit rides like. And $1200+? For half that you could have a spring over. But I hope it works for you and you like it. I know I wouldn't. Let us know how it goes...

Well it can't ride as bad as my CJ did before I did the SOA. I just wanted something different. All I see anymore is either 4" lifts or SOA, which is cool, to each there own. I just wanted to take an approach I haven't seen yet, one that I didn't have to worry about welding and fabricating along the way. I did the SOA, I just don't have the access to welders and all the fabing equipment I did then. I chose this because its quick and easy, cant beat the warranty and should allow me to run a taller tire like I wanted too. Like I said, to each there own, I'm just looking to do something a little different.

Looks good.. the BDS springs are generally good springs, and this is the first time Ive heard of someone complaining about them. I hope they work out well for you.

Yeah I thought BDS springs were generally softer giving a great ride. Maybe you got a bad set or something.

Will do YJButcher, probably start the install of the front end tomorrow.

I thought the BDS kits were supposed to be a pretty good ride and that was one of the desiding factors for me. Was a little supprised to here that. Welp back out to finish getting the axle out from under her.

Soa will not cost less then $1200 plus while you are doing SOA you better be replacing the rear axle... You have to fix steering correclty, new driveshafts front and rear, SYE, brake lines, shocks and more misc fabbing parts.

I have 2" BDS and they are great! They are probally the best springs, and the warrenty you cant go wrong! Good luck with the install, I would look into possible some Hi-Steer kits because your steering can be some trouble.

I, also have the 3.5 BDS kit. It does ride like a quarter ton car on 1 ton springs... you do need tough kidneys, they are tough springs. On a five mile rock field, this is a little rough, but they takes a licking, and keeps on ticking...
And there is the warranty...

I'm not so sure about needing a new front driveshaft. ....I still run a 100% stock front driveshaft with zero issues while SOA.

If going SOA and doing a SRS or extending the wheelbase is a whole different story. I'm still at ~94" wheelbase.

Okay, I suppose it would cost someone starting out more than $600. For me, it would be less, since I already have a CV driveshaft, and SYE, access to a few stock spring packs to make my own set, and a welder. That's what I was comparing it to. All I'd need are new spring perches, U bolts, and a traction bar.

As for the ride, mine is really rough. Maybe if I had greasable shackle bolts and could grease up the bushings easily, it wouldn't be so bad. But I can't imagine 6" springs. And like I said before, I hope it works for you, chanchett. Write a good review!

:edit: Joe, is that an 8.8 in the rear? Have any more pics? :flipoff2:

My BDS springs rode soft. I rode in some other set ups and mine was 10 times better.

And Longer shocks, longer brake lines, steering modifications to do a SOA correctly.

That is unless you really want a z link steering setup....

Not that it honestly matters, but to at least let you guys know I'm not retarded and have thought this all through... shocks are taken care of already, brake lines are taken care of already, and for the steering I was going to do the tie rod flip insert thingies. I know it's not a permanent solution, but it will be better than what I already have until I go balls out with the D60's and 40's.

Same with the BDS ride... I find better than mine was stock...

What will make you ride worse?

Shocks, the BDS ones that came with it were far stiffer than the doetsch

Shackles, Boomerang gave me some help

And the most important, do not over tighten or use the factory spec for shackle bolts... you want to barely snug them... (or 15 ft lbs) Poly is far more dense and does not need that high of a toque. Also, being most kits have lock nuts, they will not loosen or give you trouble. Try it both ways, you will feel the differance... Or just jack it up by the body, and loosen the shackle bolts, you will actually see the axle relax on it own... better flex and ride....
