Icon316 5.9 Remake

Well I just spent a year saving money and fighting the urge to mod my Jeep, because I wanted it done all at once. I have about 15K to work with. I am going all out rebuilding engine, tranny, and swapping in a new t-case. Then going with a long arm lift and new ring and pinions, maybe axles.

I have been looking at the long arm lift from www.kevinsoffroad.com and he seems to be really involved around here and have nothing but great things about him and his products.

My main question is the transfer-case and axles. I will be doing a lot of work to the engine maybe stroke it to a 408, I just don't want to break anything.

What about transfer case? I hate the 249 I have. Is the 242 the way to go and will it hold up?

If swap the axles what would be a good combo that would be the most cost effective as far as price and installation? I don't want to install the axles myself, I could but I don't want to screw it up.

Any advice would be great. I feel like a kid on Christmas thinking about it, I can't wait.

Thanks

swap a 242, that would proly be your best bet....axles are gong to need attention though..408+33's or bigger = broken sh!t...but ask lots of questions I would at least swap an 8.8 in (ford) easy to do and easy to find) sound like a sick project though...keep us posted

not to be an ass, but why not buy a built rig? Save some money and end up with two Jeeps.

I think you will get more help in the spead freaks section or as I like to call it the 5.9L ZJ section.

If you have it you don’t need it. If you need it you don’t have it. If you have it you need more of it. If you have more of it you don’t need less of it. You need it to get it. And you certainly need it to get more of it. But if you don’t already have any of it to begin with, you can’t get any of it to get started, which means you really have to know how to get it in the first place. Do you? You can share it, sure. You can even stockpile it if you’d like, but you can’t fake it. Wanting it, needing it, wishing for it… The point is if you’ve never had any of it never people just seem to know.
