Default Whats wrong with this picture?

Okay, so, I tore a teeny hole in my spark plug boot (I think). Now, lets observe the first fact that the plug itself is gapped at .045 . Second fact, the gap between the plug boot and the head is about 3/4? of an inch. Third fact, spark takes the least path of resistance, so ........

My final conclusion, besides that "fact" that the plug boot is ripped, that Champion truck plugs carry way too much resistance???

The article makes a couple good points:
increase the gap if you have a lite-foot and aren't concerned with WOT performance. This will increase mpg. This is me as the 4oh spends 95% of its' life around 2k rpms.

Copper conducts better than platinum, but wears much faster (12k vs 30-40k miles) - we all knew that. But this is why DC says to stick with copper - I recently spoke to a "leed" DC Jeep mechanic that many drivability issues can be resolved by sticking with copper plugs. imo Platimun is fine if using an aftermarket coil (for those of us w/o DIS).

Can only speak from my own experience, but when I had platinum plugs it, the idle was not as smooth and my mpg was less than with copper plugs, and they also didn't last as long as the copper. This is with 2 different brands of platinum as well. Rule of thumb is to stick with whatever was stock in the vehicle.

Okay, I was overlooking the obvoius: always run stock plugs and wider gap is hotter spark. Kinda like pigs don't fly. :neil:
