Question Any problems with your Factory 10-disc CD changer ?

Ever since we bought our Jeep GCL 2000.We are having problems with the CD changer, then we bought a new 10-disc Magazine. That one lasted about 3/4 months.Everytime I try to change discs I got a "error" message.Do you guys know what that could be ?

Thanks

Mine did that when I had my 99.

Got it replaced under warranty though.

Thumbs down Its About To Crap Out!

I had mine "REBUILT" not "REPLACED" under DC warranty before 36K.

PITA!

I have heard this is very common. Do you garage your jeep? Some people have said that condensation can do that.

I recently had the same problem with my CD changer. I have a '02 Limited and would get "err" displayed on my headunit when I tried to change the disc. If your still under warranty take it to your dealer and the will swap it out with a remanufactured unit. Thats the only way they do it, all Jeep dealers send the units to United Radio (1800 448-0944), www.urdealerservices.com. They provide factory authorized audio service. If your truck isn't under warranty, you can remove the unit youself, (four screws, four nuts, one plug) and send it to them. They charge a flat rate of $180.00 for WJ CD changers (part#56042129AE-AJ) and will send you a remanufactured changer with a one year warranty. Pm me if you have any other ??

My CD changer has been in the dealer for 3 weeks now as they wouldn't do a direct replacement because the warranty company said it was too expensive. They had to send it away for repair, but will the problem just happen again? Does anybody know why it happens and if there is an improved model?

There isn't an improved model. The unit part#'s 56042129AE-AJ ,depending on the year of your truck (Yours would be a 56042129AG) are rebuit to manufactures specs by United Radio who chrysler authorizes to service OEM factory audio parts. I don't know why this problem occurs but condensation inside the unit as somebody said above could be the answer.
