Default Transfercase Problems, i think

Driving home from snoqualmie pass i started to hear a funny clicking noise and by the time i got home it had turned into a clunk that i could feel especially when i took off. When i got home i jacked the rear axle off the ground and climbed under it with it in gear and put a stick up to my ear and started feeling around for where the sound was coming from. I pinpointed the noise to about where the planatery gears are in the transfer case, and then i took the rear driveline off just to make sure the noise wasnt traveling up the the driveline from the rearend. So i pulled the transfer case off tonight and pulled it all apart and i cant see anything visually wrong with it except the filter had a few metal chips in it. I havnt taken the front output yoke off yet so i havnt pulled the chain and everything out yet but im guessing that some kind of bearing in the planatary part of the case went out. Is this something that can be easily had or changed? When i was going down the road it sounds like a clunk along with a noise that sounds like a dull drill bit against metal. Any ideas that might help me? Thanks.

So why do you think it's the gear set in the tcase? In 2 and 4 high, power does run through the gear set.

I dont really think its the gears or anything it just seems like a bearing let go somewhere in the back half of the transfercase. I took the rear driveline out and ran it while i held a stick up to it so i could pinpoint the noise and its coming from somewhere near the gears in it. I even started it up after i took the case out and put it in gear and the transmission isnt making the noise so it has to be the transfer case.
