My engine died, "check engine" light came on. Pushed it to the side of the road and had the wife come and get me. I tried to get the engine trouble codes but it won't flash anything. On the third time it just stays on. The "upshift" indicator is also on. Is this an indication of a dead computer or something easier.
Just thought I would check here before starting a full inspection, maybe this happened to someone else. I haven't checked for spark or fuel yet but it does have good oil and coolant.

Checked it again and same thing. On third "On" engine light just stays on and so does the "upshift" indicator. I tried to reset the codes, by disconnecting the negative batt cable but no help.

The problem was a blown fuse. One of the ones in the box right in front of the batt. It was the "fuel system ECU fuse"
I will try to get the pic on there....It was on there I'll have to check imagestation again.

yeah, got the pic figured out. Same problem happened again today though. I was at a light and the heep cut off, same symptoms so i knew what it was. Switched it out with the headlight fuse and drove off.
Here is the thing, it only happens when I have the electric fan on at a stop. This is a pretty recent mod and isn't all worked out yet. It's a taurus fan, with 3 relays wired to carry the amps the fan needs. It has only happened twice so I can't really call it a trend yet. I briefly looked at the wiring for the fuel system and didn't see any problems. The fan is in now way wired to the fuel system. It is wired directly to the batt.

Happened again for the third time tonight. The fan was not on. Is there a common place that the wiring for the fuel system has problems? I checked earlier today and didn't see anything wrong.
