Does anyone have a write up on how to do an alignment?

I've gotten pretty close on toe-in using a plumb bob, a tall socket and a tape measure. For the record, I've also been pretty far off too.
1) Find a flat and level surface, preferably smooth concrete. 2) Drive forward with the steering centered and slowly come to a stop. 3) Take a socket that's tall enough to clear the side of the tire, hold it on the machined outer surface of the wheel at 3 o'clock and hang the plumb bob from the outer edge. 4) Once the plumb bob has stopped swinging mark the center on the ground. 5) Repeat on the other side. 6) Repeat steps 4) & 5) at 9 o'clock. 7) Measure distances between from and back for toe-in reading. 8) Adjust tie-rod to give 1/16"-1/8" closer at the front than the rear.
