Default Noisy rear ADDCO sway bar

I installed the ADDCO heavy duty rear sway bar on my '02 WJ Overland with the Energy Poly bearings and have a lot of noise on the up and down motion of the jeep. I shot extra grease into the bearings but still get a sort of squish noise. The end links have an extra washer to keep the connection tight and I put two hose clamps on the sway bar to keep it from sliding from side to side. Has anyone tried the rubber hanger supplied by ADDCO to see if it makes less noise? Previous posts seem to deal with clunking rather than the rubbing noise.

The clunking (like you said) is common since the top diff bolt often hits the bar.. Never heard of a "rubbing" - I'm guessing that you crawled under there so see if you see any scrape parts so I wont suggest that

anyway btt

Did you grease the inner surface of the bushings and bar where the bushings fit before you installed them? If not, it may just be that it is taking a while for the grease that you shot into them later to get distributed between the surfaces in contact. The sound should go away after a while. I used the Addco bushings (with well greased bar and bushings) and have never yet had any noise.

oldgeezer pretty much nailed it. Also make sure that your bushing bolts are nice and tight. If you end up with the "clunk", the bar is making contact with the gas tank skid. My rear bar makes contact with the tank skid on the right side when I hit a moderate bump (the contact area is pretty darn small). I just fab'd up a set of 1" spacer blocks today that should solve this problem....I hope!!! I just need to pick up two sets of 10.X grade bolts that are an inch longer than original end-link bracket bolts.....which is not so easy......and I should be good to go. I'll take a few pics of the spacers blocks when I have a chance.

The bar was greased as well as the bushings before assembly. The system seems to be getting quieter but is noisy in the morning and quiet after work. The jeep is in the garage and the overnight temperature is not very low yet so who knows what's going on. Perhaps one of my rear shocks is going bad. I gave the bushings another shot of grease tonight and noticed the suspension is quiet when I push down on the rear bumper.
