On my 92 it's right by the fuel tank, mounted to the left frame rail. It should be the same for any YJ after 88. It is fairly easy to change. Just make sure you depressurize your fuel system before you start disconnecting things.

mine was so easy to find. it was right up front near the carb. i went and bought a chilton guide because i am sure that this will not be the only thing that needs tending to. after i changed the filter and replaced all the rotten lines (that was my problem i think) she started up no problem!! fingers crossed and knocking on wood that i solved this problem.

not if you have the same manual as i do. it has three sections that talk three different types of motors. the 2.4?, 4.0, and then the last one is the 4.2

It will be in front of the carb, typically within 12 inches of the carb.

Some problems that are common, you will notice that there are 2 outlets on your carb. The center outlet will go to your carb, the one that is not in the center will actually go back to the tank. Make sure that the tank return line is higher than the one to the carb. This will prevent the fuel from running back to the tank. This was the cause of hard starting for me.

Changing the filter is easy, takes about 5 minutes.
