Still thinking about getting the Garvin. All the pics I've been able to dig up have been with a hardtop on or the soft top up. Want to see what it looks like with the top down.
If anyone has pics of what it'd look like on a white TJ that would be great too. TIA

Thanks ppro. How loud is the rack? In one of the searches I did you mentioned something about a faring for the front end of the Garvin... did you ever get one fabbed up?
I'm still debating on whether or not to get one. I recently installed an olympic moutaineer rack (mounts above the rollbars) and I'm not very happy with it. Just trying to weigh pros cons of the Garvin. I think it'll work with my Warn rear setup. And if I remember corectly you were able to make it work with your bestop trailcover (any pics). My only concern it overall weight, and being too top heavy. Thanks again.

Just book mark my web site and start reading the "Chronology of Changes" page
![]() Here: Fairing - it worked great with the top down, was WORSE with the top up. I took it off. The rack has a little wind noise. But compared to the problems it solved for me, it is not a big deal. Top heavy? Well yeah. But I have counterbalanced it with skid plates from front to rear hanging below the axle line, so it is somewhat under control. But I NEVER go wheeling with anything on the rack but my Hi-Lift and a small assortment of tools and what-nots in plastic boxes permanently mounted to the rack. Sometimes it acts as an exo-cage when small trees get close so it has some benefits on the trail. But at anything approaching 35 degrees off-camber, I pretty much start worrying about flopping. I haven't yet, and haven't even come close, but I have unloaded the suspension on the high side a couple times, which was close enough for me. The rack comes off easily enough if you want to get crazy off-camber. ppro http://4x4icon.com Off Camber Crawlers (web site) Off Camber Crawlers (discussion board) |
