Will a 33 fit on a YJ tailgate?
It looks like it would be close? Do you guys know if it will fit?

do you have an aftermarket bumper???
if so that might be a problem, if not you can fit 44's on a YJ tailgate the question you have to ask yourself is will the tailgate handle it??? some say yes, some say no, my tailgate was strugling with 31's so i had to get a carrier |

it should fit just fine -- so long as you are not using a double tube rear bumper. mine was mounted to my tailgate just fine.

well asumming that it fits, you can help the tailgate out with a simple mod.
I only run a 31 inch spare, but still it would bounce arround alot, so basically i made an l shaped peice of metal that would fit tightly on the bottom of the sparte, and hd a peice of metal attach that to either the bumper of the chassis, it really holds the spare tight and keeps it from bounceing around. Also my friend that I go wheeling with has a 33in Pro Comp tire on his and he has tube bumpers, but Pro comp's tires are overrated in size

If u plan on putting them 33 inch boggers on there. I wouldnt do it. Unless u plan on never opening ure tailgate. That thing would not last long at all

I have the olympic rock bumper with 2" reciever hitch, and the 33 inch tire wouldn't fit, it would hit the receiver. I ended up just building a tire carrier and it is great.
My hinges were starting to bend with just my 31s on before. Here are some pics of my new carrier

a 33 toasted my hinges and started to oval out the mounting holes after about 2 weeks...then i took the seat out and threw it back there
