a little ot but oh well. drilling holes in my BPI to put my lights on. Should i use a 1/4 or 1/8 as a pilot hole?

pilot with a 1/8" (#30) or a 5/32" (#21) drill bit - since you are going to a 1/4" I would use the #21 drill bit. also use a Cobalt bit at slow speed (around 200 rpm) to get the best use of your bit.
