Default 2WD Shock Absorber Recommendations?

My wifes loaded-to-the-gills 2001 2WD XJ is coming up on 50,000 miles, and I am starting to look for replacements for the oem shock absorbers. Will also be replacing the tires (likely with Kumho Ecsta) for better road manners than the wearing oem Wranglers, and am looking for shocks that will allow this Jeep to have the best suspension compliance. This vehicle is used in business in a major metro area, and though I am no fan of top-heavy SUV's for this kind of use, at least I was able to persuade her to get a Jeep to replace a flat terrible Ford.

My search thus far reveals most premium shocks to be valved for the 4WD versions, which would be too stiff for us. The Koni rep I know had no suggestions.

Unless I learn otherwise, I suppose I'll just go with Monroe Sensatrac, but I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or experience.

Thanks. This is a great forum, and I was glad to have recently found it.

Have you looked into OME. I never heard a bad thing about them.

I just took off my Monroe Sensatracs. They are about the same firmness as the stock UpCountry shocks I just put on :naw: so if you decide you want some, let me know. These only have 3 months on them.
