A friend of mine has an 89 xj with a 4.0 170,000 mi. on it and he is looking for a rebuild kit for it. It is the non-HO he is not looking to spend the money for a stroker. And will have no problem doing the work if you guys know of any good kits out there or websites that I can find one on it would help a lot.

I wouldn't worry about a kit if you're just looking to put new parts in a worn block and new bearings on an old crank.

i know the stealership sells them, there terribly expensive from there (what isnt?). i know there are other places for a 1/3 of the price, you'll just have to look. do a search somewere like www.google.com or goto car parts magazines websites ex. summit racing

Can't your local parts store get this kit for you? I know our parts stores can usually get most kits I am sure the 4.0 rebuild kit is no exception.

I usally buy my engine kits from Northern Auto Parts. They beat all my local parts stores on prices and offer good service.
http://www.northernautoparts.com They list a AMC 242 4.0 87-90 - Rering kit for $115.72 http://www.northernautoparts.com/Pro...uctModelId=406 Hope this helps.
