Default Wet floor board - search sucks - need help!

My passengers side floor board is soaking wet. Just the bottom of it though. Thinking it's the AC drainage, but not sure. I think I remember someone else having this problem, so if anybody knows, could you please tell me what it is and how to fix it.

Thanks,

Joe

I believe this is covered by TSB # 2401201. The "summary", on the NHTSA website states "CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN THAT THE HVAC DRAIN WATER LEAKS UNDER PASSENGER SIDE CARPET".

I thnk I posted something about this several months ago - BUT. I noticed water dripping, on my driveway, from an area under the passenger seat. Where did it come from? -- The AC drain hose is positioned almost exactly above the passenger side frame rail. The condensate drips on the frame and runs down and back to a point under the passenger seat and then drips off from there. Quite a bit of water lays on top of the frame waiting to dry or drip off. If there is any small crack, hole, etc., in the floorboard, the water will end up inside under the carpet.

I mentioned noticing this to the dealer and they didn't seem interested, unless the carpet was wet. I took a piece of soft copper tubing (5/8' -I think?) and bent it to direct the water past the frame on the inside (engine side). The copper tube was a tight fit inside the AC drain hose. I secured it to the frame with a generous amount of RTV and a piece of wire to hold it in place while the RTV cured (no frame drilling). The AC drain hose will have to be twisted in that direction a small amount, but it is just a force-fit, no clamp. Now the water drips off just behind the rear adjustment cam on the lower control arm.

Not the most elegant solution, but I wasn't willing to risk the possibility of soaked carpet. I chose to use a metal tube instead of some kind of hose since this area is very close to the exhaust (with a V-6).

Geesh this place is fast - two posts while I was writing this

I just got mine back from the shop for the same problem. A/C hose was either not attached or not long enough or something to that effect. Anyway, they seem to have taken care of the problem.

Thumbs up

When I took mine in for regular service a few months back, I mentioned the wet floor. They knew exactly what it was, and installed a longer drain tube. Haven't had a problem since.

I had this problem early this year. The dealer said there's a new drain tube design. This was early on enough that they didn't have the new part in stock yet, so they went and grabbed one off a new KJ on the lot. So this might be a change for the better in newer KJs, unlike many of the other identified changes.

Exclamation Dry it out!

You may never get the carpet dry enough not to mold. I got new carpet out of my dealer. The pad is an open cell foam attached to the carpet. You will never vaccum it all out.
