Default Sulfuric Acid Damage ??

Well , my battery went Ka-Pop on me... My ears are still ringing a bit . But I am fine ....
Anyways , my question is , will the acid damage hoses , wiring , paint , etc ?
I wiped as much of it down with a wet rag , will that be good enough ?

Oh , by the way , wear those safety glasses when working with the battery , I was and got acid right in the face (tasted nasty too
). Prolly saved my eyes !!

Well , it just gave me an excuse to buy a new Red Top .

I'm glad to hear you are all right. Those goggles may have saved your eyes.

Flush everything with lots of water then mix up some baking soda with some water. Use an old paintbrush and brush it over any areas that you think the acid is on.

Watch for the area to bubble. If it does than flush it some more and than brush some more of the baking soda mixture on there.

The baking soda will neutalize the acid.

I had my battery blow up a few years ago and all I lost was a bit of paint where it splashed upwards. No other problems ever showed with hoses or other plastic parts. Went off during a really hot Texas summer in a Walmart parking lot.....lucky for me.

I cleaned up the area again , with baking soda and water . No fizzing ..

So far , just a bit of damaged paint under the hood and a little on the fender at the bend where the hood seats ... And a plastic Doohikie that secures the hose that runs into the coolant filler tank on to the upper radiator hose ...And a shirt ...
