I had the same problem. I jacked with it for about 30 minutes, and then I finally just took the sway bar off, put it on a piece of wood, and used my BFH. One hit and it popped out. I had to do that on both sides. It gets wedged in there, and the sway bar has too much give on the vehicle, but if you can wedge it against a piece of wood off the Jeep it'll come right out. HTH!

Soak it with WD-40 and hit the heck out of it. Oh, I almost forgot...you need to be on as level ground as possible. That will help too. Good Luck!

The answer to this age-old question is in the YJ FAQ:
http://www.bc4x4.com/faqs/yj.cfm

Basically, the sure-fire, always-works method is to remove the bar and links from the Jeep, put the end against a brick, and pound the bolt out with a big hammer. Never, ever fails.

well, i tried pounding the hell of out of it after soaking it with wd40 and it didn't work. as for taking the entire bar off: on the drivers side there are two bolts. the one closest to the rear is not accesible from underneath because of another bolt in its way. but i can get to it from level ground but the problem is that i dont have the leverage to even begin moving the bolt. i tried wd40 but it aint coming off.
maybe ill try the method of going down to the gas station
thanks a lot guys for your help. im gonna keep trying!

Get yourself some PB Blaster from Pep Boys or AutoZone (or whatever is close to you), spray the links a couple of times during the day, then take a pickle fork and a BFH and go to town......they'll come right off with a good whack

I know what you're talking about, but you can get the bar off! I can't remember how exactly I did it, but the bar is held on by a mount with a rubber bushing in it. Loosen all the bolts you can as much as you can. Just slide the sway bar down, not moving the mount, believe me, you can get it out, I did! I'll try and look at it tonight to remember how exactly it's done.

You do realize that there is a tool made specifically for this reason, right? They can be had at Harbor Freight for less than $5, or Auto Zone or Checker would have them as well, just not as cheap. They are exactly like a pitman arm puller, just smaller. I think it'll be a little easier and less time consuming than whacking at it all day.

You might have to take off the front trackbar to get at the swaybar bolt. I know I had to... Then, once you have it off, like the others said, BFH!!!!
