Post NEED HELP!!! Jeep sputters while accelerating

This just started yesterday. On the way home I noticed it doing it while I accelerated 1st thru 4th gears and in reverse. I have changed the plugs, the cap and rotor are new and the oil, K&N is good as well as the gas. I don't know what it is. Could it be the O2 sensor? I plan on changing that when I can get a new one over here.

    PCV valve?

Are you getting a check engine light? If so, what codes do you have?

It sounds like you have an exhaust leak. More than likely the exhaust manifold is loose or missing a bolt(s). I would suggest tightening the bolts on the manifold. Hopefully that will fix it.

That's how mine started acting a couple of weeks before the CPS died. Felt almost like a flat spot in the power curve that I couldn't get to duplicate.

I don't get a check engine light. I have checked the manifold and it iz tight as can be. The section after the muffler is a little loose but it has been for a long time now. I don't see how all of a sudden that would cause this. I had a CPS go bad 2 years ago but that just killed the engine and wouldn't crank until I replaced it. This is weird.

Was wheeling a month ago, and had a similar experience. It would idle ok, but would stumble when I went to accelerate. I had been playing in mud and water, so I cleaned the TPS with WD-40, it has driven fine ever since.

ok I am having the same problem with my jeep and i hooked up a code scanner to it and it popped out something about the gas tank melting around the fuel filter causing the return lines to dump the excess fuel back into the motor causing it to flood. Look at your spark plugs and you will see.

I have replaced the plugs, what would they have looked like if the excess fuel dumping was occuring? Three of them were a kind of white color and one was just black as nite. It still runs the same and the jeep gives only 12 and 33 for fault codes.

.....and what kind of a code scanner would it be that gives such an eloquent diagnosis?

it was a tech update on a snap on scanner
and we have been checking it out and we called a local jeep dealer and they said that would be the cause

Interesting. Did the dealer say what he thought might cause the gas tank to melt?

yeah if it was dumping fuel back into the motor then they would be black as night which means it is running rich
