Default New pics from an old member

I'm sure no one around here remembers me but I thought I'd post up some new pics of the WJ acquired today. It's my GF's. We got a 2004 WJ Laredo. 75k miles, in nearly mint condition. It's fairly basic but all she said she wanted was 4x4 and reliable. All stock minus the head unit. In the back of my mind I envision one tons and 37's but obviously nothing like that will be happening. Keeping it stock for ski/snow duty. She's pretty stoked about it though.

And before you pervs even ask... obligatory pic.

The '04 4.0 laredo don't suffer from the problems seen with the upscale Limited and overlands and their high tech toys.

Change all the fluids and lubricants, you already know Jeeps require non GM fluids...

Welcome back to the dark side..... I've come and gone for a year at a time two or three times...

If you go to a junk yard and find a limited you can upgrade the interior cheaply (leather).

Nice looking WJ... CLEAN!!! Mine MIGHT have been that clean when it had 30k on it! Plus you have the Selec Trac.. nice..

    Everything drshame said, plus...

    water pump
    rear wiper motor
with the ignition switch, if you ever find you cant turn the key to start (like the transmission was put in park on a hill or curb or something), bang the end of the key (like you're hammering it into the column) 10 times or so and she should start, fyi - mine's done it maybe once every 15k miles or so since 95k and hasn't gotten any worse through 160k.

lube lube lube!!! keep everything with fresh fluids and lubed up and it'll go forever.

And I'd almost say stick with the cloth unless you reeeaaaally want leather... I'm not too keen on Jeep's leather.. I've used Meguire's on mine since day one and it's still cracking everywhere.

    Just
    Empty
    Every
    Pocket

    (But you knew that!)
All that aside, congrats on the new Jeep - looks in awesome condition for an '04!

Oh.... and for DD with some snow duty..... get a set of Severe Snow Service rated ATs, a few highway tires also carry the rating. They will have a snowflake on a mountain symbol cast into the sidewall.

Unlike the obsolete M&S designation the Severe Snow rated tires had to prove traction through actual testing..

Extremely nice! You're fortunate to have found one in such good shape. I much prefer the Jeep's cloth interiors and wouldn't have leather - cold in the winter and sweaty in the summer.

In the first pic it looks to be the same color as mine. Looks nice. Some cross bars on the roof rack would help imo.

Thanks for all the input guys. After doing everything with my Audi (timing belt, suspension, turbo stuff) the Jeep should be a cinch to keep in proper shape.

I've been around for quite a few years now myself.

Both the Jeep and GF look awesome.

As a fairly good rule, if the previous owner took the care to keep the interior in great shape and the mechanics looking clean, then the maintenance is usually well kept up. Obviously there are exceptions.

Good looking ride, should go for many years to come.

    Welcome back.

I bet you can talk her into a nice little 2" spacer lift to get some bigger tires on there. "Better in the snow." Maybe a upgrade on the rear sway and brakes for the I-70 Ski Saturday afternoon Autobahn downhill race back to Denver.

I'll wait until it needs new tires. Then I'll "take it to the tire shop" and bring it back with longarms and 37's. She'll believe that the bigger tires are cheaper because no one really buys them.

Well this is awkward. Turns out the bank turned down the loan for my GF's laredo. So the dealer called her and said that she could straight up trade for a different one with the same mileage but TONS more options and for a cheaper price. Not sure how that works but she was down for it. So here it is... 04 WJ, 75k miles, limited, heated seats, 4.7 V8, it's pretty dang clean. I don't know why the financing would be different for this vehicle but whatever. Here are pics.
