Just wanted to share my latest experience regarding extended warranty and replacement shocks:
Our '04 Overland has 48k miles on it now. We noticed during an oil change that the rear shocks were leaking. Looking closer, one of the fronts was too. When we bought the Jeep we splurged for the Chrysler Max Care extended warranty. Surprisingly they listed shocks as a covered item. Good news - right? Not. The dealer replaced the shocks but instead of using the OEM Mopar shocks, they installed the Mopar Value Line shocks. They claim the V-line shocks meet the OEM specs and have been instructed to install them for warranty claims. They are not even close to the same damping performance. They are so soft and mushy that the vehicle now leans, bounces, and dips so badly I can't stand to drive it!
After fighting with the dealer and Chrysler warranty, I've given up. I'm buying Bilstein's and putting them on the this weekend! I should not have even tried the dealer...
Here's the parts to avoid:
The Value Line parts might be ok for water pumps or alternators, but are clearly not correct for the Limited/Overland.
