Thread: Quadra-Drive II -- how do I tell

    Icon317 Quadra-Drive II -- how do I tell

I just got a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee -- how do I tell which system I have?

    Quadra-Trac I
    Quadra-Trac II
    Quadra-Drive II

    ????

The dealership said Quadra-(something) II when I got it... but I don't remember which, I hope it's the Quadra-Drive II... it's reeeaaally good off road, I've made it up mountains that are even hard for me to get up in my ATV (and I'm a very experienced ATV rider), so if it ends up being the lower end model it will really suprise me because it's like a mountain goat. I looked underneath and there are three diffs... front, rear and middle with a wireing harness plugged into it...... this is what leads me to belive it's the Quadra-Drive II. My model is the Laredo 4x4 with 4.7.

    Thanks in advance

Like others said, just check for the Quadra-Drive II emblem on the center console. If you don't have the emblem, your 4.7L is most likely Quadra-Trac II. If you don't have a 4wd low lever then you have Quadra-Trac I.

With that said, even the QTII in my Jeep has been very impressive.

I am looking at my windows sticker right now. With a base '05 Laredo 4.7L you get the "Quadra-Trac I Full-Time 4WD System".

I have the Customer Preferred Package 28F, which upgraded the drivetrain to the "Quadra-Trac II Active Full-Time 4WD"
2005 (WK) GC Laredo 4.7L, QTII, 28F – Bright Silver Metallic, Magnaflow CAT Back, Leather, K&N CAI, FilterMAG, Sunroof, Security System/Remote Start/NAV/DVD Infotainment/Sirius/iPod Integration/U-Connect/SmartBeam Mirror/Rear Park Assist/Rear Park Assist Camera, Painted: Door Handles/Tailgate Brow/Rear Spoiler, Chrome: Side Body Moldings/Taillight Guards, Overland Roof Rails, Class IV Towing, Skid-Plates, Off-Road Package, Cabin Air Filter, F/R Stainless Door Entry Guards, Sylvania Silverstar's, Premium Floor & Slush Mats, Leather Cell Phone Holder, 2 Jeep Cargo Nets, 2 Jeep Storage Bags, Jeep Cargo Liner, Cargo Cover, Jeep S&R Bag, Jeep Roadside Safety Kit, SRT8 Side Sills, SRT8 Shift Knob, SRT8 Bright Pedals, SRT8 Wheels & Tires (4-20x9"), SRT8 Grille, SRT8 front bumper.

The WK has three 4 wheel drive systems:
QuadraTrac I - single speed transfer case with open axles
QuadraTrac II - two speed transfer case with open axles
QuadraDrive II - two speed transfer case with ELSD axles

For 2005 QTI is available only with the 3.7L. QTII is available only on the 4.7L. QDII is standard on the 5.7L and optional only on the 4.7L Limited.

For 2006 QTII is optional on the 3.7L.

The base Laredo 4x4 is standard with QTI, but the 4.7L automatically gets QTII. The electrical harness to the transfer case is for the electric shift motor and it is the same for QTII/QDII. The ELSD axles also have an electrical harness to the center diff of each axle. QuadraDrive I was the WJ 4x4 system - two speed transfer case with VariLok axles (was actually just called QuadraDrive since there wasn't a II yet).

Read through the thread, but I'm still a little confused as to what system this Limited I'm lookin at has. I'll just post up the interior shots of the ad I'm looking at. 99% sure this is a done deal, but I'd like to know that it at least has QT II. It's an '05 Limited, 4.7.

    Do you have the VIN?

Easiest way to tell is the Window Sticker.

Don't have the window sticker on it, but I do have the VIN. Is there a program I can run it through?

    My 07 4.7L has QDII.

Dont know if the badging is the same on the 05's but I have a QuadraDrive II badge below the shifter.

Referencing the picture two posts above, it would be on the small strip of wood grain between the shifter and the cupholders.

There should be a few people on this forum with the ability to generate a build sheet with your VIN. If not, you can request one (I believe it's free) on Jeep.com
