    Default Can $69.00 firestone diagnostic test tell me if i need a new fuel filter?

    Im having trouble starting my WJ and it bogs alot starting out, if i pay the local firestone can they tell me with their computer diagnostic test that i need a new fuel filter or fuel pump? or does their stuff specifically do engine stuff?

    There are no codes that will tell you if either are bad. When was the last time the filter was changed? If its more than 12k, change it yourself. Not sure if its similar to the ZJ, but if it is it will take all of 5 minutes to change the filter. When my fuel pump went, I had a lot of problems starting up, and it was sporadic, sometimes it started up no problem, until it totally went and would not start at all.

    the dealer said the filter is 200.00 , i looked at wjjeeps and it looks pretty complicated to change, i think i saw a filter on ebay for 70

    Just read 97 and later use filters that are part of the fuel pump system, so that means dropping the tank and removing it all. I'd really try and find out for sure what it is, but sounds to me like they should both be replaced if/when one of them craps out.
