    Default Kelly Safari MSR

I saw a Jeep today with 33x9.50 Kelly Safari MSR tires. They looked like they would be a great DD tire but they probably weren’t aggressive enough for the muddy trials I do. I would love to get 33x9.50’s though. Kellys’ site doesn’t list that size for any of their tires. Has anyone had Kelly tires? How well did you like them?

I had the Safari MSRs, they were real good for a DD tire, real quiet. About as good in the mud as an MTR, but nowhere as good in the rocks.

I run the 31x10.50's. They wear great about 45k and still good meat left. All around good tire for both off and on road. Of course they lose some traction on road as the sipes wear but they stay surprisingly quiet.Tough sidewalls and no chunking in the rocks made me happy w/them.

my brother has a set on his old dodge pickup. they seem to do real well on the road, but he hasn't had it in the dirt yet, so I can't comment about their performance offroad.

I know that Goodyear service center carries Kelly tires. i called about the 31x10.50 size and the 30x9.50. The 30x9.50 = $120.00 ea. and the 31's were a dollar more.

They still make the All Terrain in that size. They quit making the mudder quite a while ago though. I bought a used pair of the 33x9.50's in the summer of 2001. The guy was selling them because he couldn't get a 5th for a spare to match his set 1 month after buying them. He switched to 33x10.50's all around, and I got a good deal.

According to my supply website, there are three tires that are made under the Goodyear "umbrella", (which includes Goodyear, Dunlop, & Kelly, (made under several private labels for goodyear, such as Republic, Trailmark, Lee, Star, etc.)), in that size.

Star Trailbuster APR - decent AT/highway tire

Trailmark M+S Radial - aggressive M+S rated tire, great for snowplows, studdable if needed or wanted

Lee Ridge Runner M+S - see trailmark description above, same tire, just rebadged

I don't know how to post up a pdf that has more info and pictures, but I can email them if you want me to, just get me you're address.

There website says they have them in LT255/85R16. Which the spec says measures 33.3X10. That is pretty close.

However, he'd have to buy some 16" wheels. If he wanted to do that, there are a lot, (as in 38, just from Goodyear & it's subsidiaries), more choices out there in a 235/85R16 which is 31.7" tall & 9.3" wide. You can pretty much take anything in that size, but it is a little small.
