    Default RB1 installation instructions?

I bought a RB1 off of ebay and it came in the mail today without any installation instructions.

It should be pretty straight forward and is only supposed to take 30 min.... but to be safe you're always supposed to RTFM.

So I was checking this page out....

    http://www.wjjeeps.com/nav_inst.htm

Is the GC install basically the same on the Liberty?

Looks like all I need is a 3" spackle tool and a screwdriver and some double sided foam tape to stick the antenna inside the dash.

    Thanks,

The following are specifically for the Liberty.
Here's a site for the antenna:

Here's a site for the radio (they're all the same):

And, here's an excellent review on the RB1!

    Hope all goes smoothly!

Did you get it from the guy selling them for $875? I bought one from him and it didn't come yet, and I was curious if they are in as good a shape as he claimed they'd be in.

Yep, I got it yesterday, and I put my bid in on Monday night. It looks brand new and was made in Nov '04. Can't wait to drive my CRD home from the dealer and tear apart the dash and install it on Thursday!

is this the guyin canada that sells them?

I bought one when i first bought my liberty last summer... think I dealt with him off-ebay for $800 shipped... it was brand new, build date two months or 3 montsh before I received it... and works perfect.

install is basically plug and play... take screw off at bottom of bezel, pry bezel off, it uses snaps on 4 corners to hold it in... unplug radio, plug new one in... then stick antenna to some flat surface in dash. I put mine behind the gauge cluster and I get great signal strength.

My only gripe is I dida sirius installation at the same time, mopar antenna and receiver... for some reason, randomly when I turn on my unit to satellite radio, it gives me static only... it might happen once a week on average, maybe more like once every two weeks on average, but I can't figure out what does it. The unit thinks it's getting signal, but it just plays static like a radio station that isn't there. I have to turn off the unit for 5 or 10 minutes thne when I turn it back on it'll work. very weird, don't think it's the RB1 because the am/fm will work fine, and CD wil work fine. jsut satelite, so I'm guessing it's the antenna or the receiver, but not annoying enough to remove them, cause the sat radio install is a biotch.

Well I got my RB1 installed. I still have work to do on it. I need to buy a 7/32 deep socket (for removing the A pillars). I shoved the antenna up in the dash as far as I could just so I could finish the job tonight and listen to music on the way to work tomorrow.
Once I get the bit I can pop off the top of the dash and place the antenna in the correct spot without taking out the RB1.

OK, here's my problem. I got Sirius factory installed. With my stock radio it displayed the channel name. I thought that since I had Sirius factory installed, I'd be able to swap out my radio with the RB1 and get the song, artist and channel info on the screen.

    Anyway looking here.....

It looks like I need to buy a CD changer and Installation Kit 1 to get the all the text to come up on the RB1. I don't mind buying the changer, I'd probably get annoyed not being able to play a CD and navigate at the same time.

You dont need a CD changer to get title/artist info. I dont have one on my RB1 and get that info... You do need a diff harness for that info though.... Once you wire in using the correct harness youll have artist/title info....

Been watching ebay, but haven't ordered one for myself yet. Like the price and the fact that shipping is cheap and I can avoid the Customs Broker Fees. The last item I ordered from the US was $100 but cost me an extra $60 for all the fees.

Was wondering which CDN cities were covered. I figure the big ones like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, etc, but wondering about ones like Winnipeg, Calgary, Regina. And how much of our #1 hwy from coast to coast.

    thnx for the info.

The instrictions came from the Jeep dealer, I thought the pictures did also but you are right they did come from wjjeeps.com. I will remove the pictures pending permission of use.
