    Default EGR valve

What year Wranglers have an EGR valve? I believe the other ones were called PCV valves? I was wondering if this thing could be the cause of my Jeep seeming to loose power as I attempt to accelerate after downshifting to go uphill?

    Thanks

you're thinking of the wrong things...

PCV valve and CCV valve do the same thing. I have a PCV on my 89, it coms out the top of the valve cover. CCV came on later models and is an orifice out the back? of the valve cover. PCV and CCV are used to ventilate the motor.

An EGR valve takes some exhaust gas and puts it back into the intake. Usually if your EGR valve is bad you will hear a pinging, like stones rattling in a coffee can, whenever you try to accelerate under load. Mine was also running very hot when my EGR valve was stuck closed. The EGC is near the trottle body on mine, it has a vacuum hose running to it. You can reach underneath and see if the diaphragm moves to check it.

Does anyone have pics of what and where the EGR valve is and looks like and the CCV, or PCV. Include what year your Jeep is to clear all this up cuz its not getting any clearer. They all seem to do the same thing. All I know is that I have a tube coming out of the top of the valve cover that runs to the intake box and from time to time deposits a nice little bit of oil on the filter and leads to gumming up my throttle body.

    Thanks

of the valve cover but near the end?

    and no body has it!

what's the deal? it's like a little canister with a filter
inside and mine is def clogged up so all i want to
    do is replace it!

i think it's an oil coalescer? The material inside causes the oil mist to collect. You could either flush it was gas or carb cleaner.

really? that's all i have to do?

    wouldn't that destroy the material?

    has anyone ever replaced it?

    Default hmmm

Okay I looked at all the pics for the EGR and PCV stuff that is on that page. None of it looks like what I have. I assume that I have a CCV valve on a 1993 4 banger? Anyone have information on these: ways to test, where it is, how to clean, how much they are, what happens if they are faulty, what are the symptoms. Anything.

    Thanks

i think a 93 is a ccv. it might come out the back? of your valvecover. it's just a small orifice, if it's plugged you have to clean it out. Not sure if this would be the symptoms you describe. PCV and CCV just allow ventilation for the engine.
