    Yes, they are legal.

Search google or yahoo for "Jeep +DJ" and you can get lots of info.

    Thanks, blupupher.

Here's the response I got from Bill at Jeep Warehouse:

    Christy,

    Welcome to Jeep Warehouse.

Yes, civilians can purchase and drive RHD vehicles on the roads. It's kind of awkward and I wouldn't know why anyone would want to unless they used it for delivery work.

Jeep is the only one that offers a US certified RHD vehicle except for custom made. Surprising, I do sell quite a few of them. Mostly to rural mail carriers, but also to cities sometimes for "meter maids" and a few to delivery people.

I used to do quite a few RHD Cherokees when they were available.

They are really strange to drive. LOL

Ain't nothing strange about driving on the right side of the vehicle....I'm thinking if I can convince the boss to allow another Jeep I'll get an old one I can drive from the passenger seat to see how you guys suffer it

The dealer I just got my 03tj from has about 6-8 RHD TJ'S on the lot. I asked them if they sold them to just anybody or if they were bought for a post office or something. He said they just sell them to anybody that comes in and wants one. The only thing is they cost the same aas a regular tj and then you have to suffer in drive thru's and stuff. I thought it would be cool to have but I got through to many fast food joints and the bank. I would have to have a passenger with me to be able to keep going through the drive thru's.
85 CJ7 258, 105000 miles and counting, motorcraft 2100 and TFI upgrade nuttered, I think it may have a small spring lift but not real sure, 31" tires and 1-piece rear axles.

    Drive backwards

That way you can see the folks behind as they talk about how long you take.

    Check out the steering stuff.

I think the old ones had all the steering stuff on the same side as regular jeeps, but connected with a chain near the firewall.

I do that when the g/f wants to use the drive-thru ATM.
