Icon316 What is this leak??? 94 ZJ 5.2L Transmission/Transfer Case

My sisters 94 ZJ 5.2L 4x4 has this leak.. I cant determine if that hole is supposed to be there or not. IF anyone knows please let me know. It is leaking transmission fluid at a very slow pace. The hole is located on the bottome of where the transmission mates to the transfer case. You can see it in these pics just to the right of the bolt.

Yes, that hole is supposed to be there. The most likely culprit is the transmission output shaft seal.

Funny, my 97 was leaking from the same spot. I just had it fixed last week.

It is probably leaking from the transmission/transfer case seam. My 95 ZJ is leaking from the same place. The mechanic says sealant is used on this
seam, and needs to be resealed.

I thought that the transmission and transfer case have separate seals and the joint between them is designed to leak (thus, the hole) in case one of the seals fails.
