Default Tricks for removing cross shaft retaining pin in a D35?

When you're pulling apart a D35, there is no retaining bolt, instead it's a pin, and it's a PIA to remove. Any tricks or something you can replace it with to make life easier?

Not looking forward to having to pull it when I break an axle...

You're talking about the little pin that holds the big cross-pin in place? The little pin is no longer a male torx-headed bolt that can just be unscrewed?

Remove the axles, remove the carrier bearing caps, pull carrier, use a punch and hammer to push the pin out.

The best thing to do is trash the d35 .

Of course the best option is to trash it...but until that glorious day comes, I need to plan on breakage.

In the Dana 35, pre 35c, there is no bolt holding the cross shaft in place, it's a pin you have to push out. I've had plenty of experience pulling the carrier to do it, just wondering if someone figured out how to do without pulling the carrier.

Ive seen some grind on the teeth but I think that is stupid, just yank the axles and then the carrier. I can have mine out in 10 minutes, it aint that hard.
