    Question Torx T65... WHERE!

So I bought a set of hooks, and in order to install them I need a T65-size torx socket. I have a set, but it maxes out at 50, and NOBODY seems to sell T65. Not the dealer, not Lowes, not Home Depot, not Sears...

Anyone know a website or chain that carries this massive, useless-except-for-this-one-job T65 Torx bit?

Probably easier to replace the Torx bolts with regular hex heads. If needing it to remove existing bolts, do something like grind flats on the sides of the heads and grab them with a Vise-Grip.
    Just my suggestion.

Here is a set from Sears from T-10 through T-60.

    http://www.sears.com/sr/product/summ...d= 00947765000

They also have the bigger ones in single packagages. The largest I ever needed on my YJ was T-55.

Are you sure it is not T-55. That is the largest on Jeeps that I know of.

I can't think of anything bigger than a T-55 on mine.

Yes, I'm sure it's T65, these are the bolts that actually mount the bumper onto the frame. I have a T50 which is very loose in these bolts.

Finally, the installation instructions call for T65

The stock bumper is held on with T-55.

Your instructions are wrong. Either way, replace them with some grade 8 hex heads.

My front bumper was a T55, which I have replaced with a hex cap bolt.

I just did my BP bumpers and the front bumper bolts WERE in fact T55. NOT ANYMORE. I replaced them with GR8 Hex. Torx is a PITA anytime you remove one replace it with a graded hex.

All mine on my YJ haven't needed any bigger than the set I got from quadratec. Actually not a bad set if you ask me.

T65's are HUGE and I have never seen one used in automotive applications. Trust us..your bumper is using a T55 and not a T65.

Well, if I find a brick-and-mortar store that has a T-55, I will certainly give it a shot. Otherwise I'm still kinda stuck though, because I don't want to have to buy an entire Torx set for one damn bit. (I have a set now that goes uo to 50). I'll see if there are any NAPAS nearby..

Maybe I can go back to the dealer and see if they'll let me borrow theirs for 10 minutes, just to get the hooks on (sheah right). While I'm in dreamland, maybe I can fly my TJ over there.

I got mine at Pep Boys. Sears probably has them (in a set no doubt) and you can check at Home Depot, etc. I keep it with me at all times...

On my 2002, the bolts through the tow hook bolts, through the bumper and into the frame are definitely T55. I have put them on and off about 5 times in the last 2 weeks.

My Sears had one, but I had to ask the clerk for help. They were sold as singles and were not Craftman brand but big deal, my 10,000lb towhooks are on now with hex bolts. Good luck and see you on the trail.

You can probably get a T55 at Napa as well.
