I have seen figures for UK 4x4 sales for Jan-Nov 2001. Top sellers are :-
Freelander........23,000
Disco.............10,700
Toy RAV4...........9,700
Honda CR-V.........8,250
Suz Grd.Vitara.....7,100
Merc M-class.......5,900
BMW X5.............5,300
ZJ.................4,050
Suz Jimny..........4,020
Mits. L200.........3,700
The XJ is not on list as no longer sold, but I would guess that it would have been about 2000 for the year. I would guess the YJ sold just a couple of hundred.
I would also guess that the Defender and Range Rover sold about 2000 each.
Far more Freelanders than anything else, and Jeeps in a minority here.

And try joining most of those clubs, or going on off-roading competitons over there. "If it wasn't built in Solihull, it ain't S**T" is the mentality over there. You'd get a better reception going to Sturgis on a Pacific Coast!
Good luck LinuxNuke, Keep the XJ faith (even if you're not sure where you are http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif)

Should have been clearer, A Pacific Coast is a 600cc Honda POS covered in plastic. Really nasty bike.

It should be WJ not ZJ, they don't still sell ZJ's over there do there? They were only made from 93-98. From 99- up they are WJ's.

No they don't, I meant the WJ. My mistake : I did know that.
But don't worry, with Landrovers very common here there is some kudos in driving an XJ.
Also, there are a lot of height restrictors in the UK, usually 1.75m high. You get them at entrances to car parks, drive-throughs, petrol filling stations. They are meant to keep out the socially undesirable who in the UK are supposed to drive white Ford Transit vans or VW campers http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif I can get under these barriers - Disco's and Freelanders cannot http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/ubb/tongue.gif
