Well it now runs great.!! Thanks to all who answered my posts relative to
the problems I have reported here.

It all started a month ago when I bought an 89 YJ (2.5 TBI) from one of my
friends daughter (I have friends you ask?). They thought it needed the
engine rebuilt/replaced due to over heating problems (fan clutch). Also a
stalling problem was reported. It did need some attention. Some moderate
repairs and parts. The fuel pump made a howling noise so it was replaced
first. The head had a broken exhaust stud in it (not to be confused with me
the stud). So off with the head. This revealed a blown head gasket. So a
valve job, resurfacing, and the upper gasket set was in order. The
intermittent stalling problem was first addressed by replacing the CPS then
the coil and relays that power the fuel pump. This did nothing to correct
the "will crank but will not start" problem. Still had the "fuel pump not
running on and no spark" problem. The decision was made to replace the ECU
with a rebuilt one ($100.00 from a discount auto parts store (the store name
is hidden here somewhere)). I just knew this was not going to prove
successful and be another failed attempt to diagnose the problem myself.
However the ECU was the problem and now runs great with renewed power from
the head work.

It's ready for trails, ready for fun. Look out stumps here I come!!!!

Jim
