Here ya go...
Wrangler - 7,861
Cherokee - 8,606
Liberty - 8,884
Grand Cherokee - 16,813
Food for thought...Cherokee and Liberty sales are nearly identical. Because of the "fourth" model, Jeep was able to post a 4% sales increase over the same period last year. Could it be that the Liberty is attracting new Jeep owners to the fold? Probably. I now actually wonder if DC could have sold the Cherokee and Liberty side-by-side for an extended length of time and still make an overall sales increase.

I wonder if the cherokee's numbers could have been effected by lack of suppy since many dealers ran out and stopped getting them in. As for the Libby attracting new customers, I agree. There are many people that love to get the newest vehicle out, so they are one of the few people on the road, with them.

They should have kept the original plan:
1 model of Cherokee- Selectrac or Commandtrac but no 2wd.
Base Cd/Cassette, Leather optional.
This would sell for around 23,000 Not too many options but including the cd/cass would have been a bonus for buying the cherokee. It would have stayed in production as the Cherokee "Classic" for at least one more year. then Dieter came along.

Or the opposite; lot's of people making sure they still get a new XJ even though they would not have been on the market for a new vehicle yet. Anyhow, pretty impressive!

We wouldn't be here debating it if they had applied that intellect.
Not a voice was raised when they announced they were adding the Liberty. When they announced that they were discontinuing the Cherokee to enable sales of the Liberty....the $#it hit the fan...

Well, actually I was a bit worried about the Liberty, even when it was going to run side-by-side with XJ. I'm hung up on the IFS thing. Around here, IFS is rarely seen on the trails and when seen, its performance never fails to disappoint. Jeeps should continue to represent offroad excellence, and an IFS model can only hope to achieve mediocrity.
