I'm thinking of starting another project in addition to my boat, which is currently in pieces, and my XJ which is still perfectly stock. I want to take a mid-80s BMW 3series and track prep it. I'm looking for people to disguss this with. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Look back about a week in this same forum, Jon Brule posted a couple of BMW forums (fora?).

I can understand your project. I have a 1990 BMW 325iC that is "evolving" into an M3C with selected mods. BMW's are as much fun to mod as our Jeeps. There are several BMW pilots here on JU.

Yeah, do a search. I don't have the URL with me (I'm not on my home computer). But, if I find it, I'll post the link.

So, you are looking for a E-30 BMW? You can probably pick up a M3 for a decent price. Then you are already half way to a track car.

Start with a 325i or a 325e. You get the 6 cylinder which has way more torque, plus they're relatively cheap to buy. And there's lots of aftermarket toys available. Including race gear. The E30 M3 is kind of rare, and they're usually pricey. Myself, I'd look for a 92 or 93 E36 325is. These can be had for cheap, and they're a nicer car to start with.

Just a question, why not go for a mid 80s Porsche 944S?
