i am getting ready to swap a 350tbi and a 700r4 in my 90 yj and was wanting to know if any of you prefored this swap before. What Radiator did you use? Did you have to move the t case back any? Did the stock front drive shaft clear the tranny pan? Is there a web site that goes over this motor and trany swap? Any help is greatly appretiated.

When I swapped in a 350, I used the stock tranny and kept the transfer in the stock location and located the engine forward from there. I had minor driveshaft rubbage on the AA bellhousing from the front driveshaft, this with a 4" lift. Compare the 700R4 length to your stock tranny and you may be able to do the same.
I used the stock radiator, had it rebuilt at a local radiator shop. Made it 3 core and moved the lower neck to the other side to match the 350 water pump. The top neck just connected to the manifold with a straight neck on the manifold. This Jeep never ran hot, even slow moving during 100* days in the Midwest when everybody else was blowing steam.

I used the "shorty" block-hugger style headers from Advance Adapters. I had a custom dual exhaust run from the headers through turbo mufflers and exited with a stock-type turn down on each side of the gas tank, this being on an 88 YJ. Newer YJ's don't have the room on both sides of the tank to run this setup.

I have an 87 with 350TBI and TH350. I used motor mount, TC adapter and radiator from www.advanceadapters.com. (http://www.advanceadapters.com.) I had to move the TC app 2 inches forward which is about how much longer the 700R4 is than the TH350.
Not sure it matters but I have a 2 1/2 inch Rancho lift.
Good luck

i have a 350 TPI with a 700r-4 to the np231.
the front driveshaft clears the tranny fine with the AA adapter
NO HEADERS!!!! headers suck!! they are junk! they are weak and will burn out easily.
use the craddle motor mount from AA and mount the engine 5/8 back(comes with spacer) and i did not have to modify my driveshaft.

Cincinnatijeep...where are you from in the Nati? There's a group of us from JU that are going out to Haspin Sunday the 15. You're more than welcome to come. Check over on the Off Topic forum. OK, back to your post.

brimy311 What gears are you running?
Also. I agree about the headers. I kept everything as stock as possible when I did the swap. I figured it would be easier and, if I need parts, I can just tell the auto parts guy that I have an 87 Wrangler or 95 Chevy 1500.
