windshield washer problem

On my 06 Commander, the windshield washer is not putting out any fluid. I have filled it with washer fluid. Is this a common problem? I do not hear the pump when I pull on the lever to activate the washer. Any ideas and any idea on cost? The ends do not appear to be stopped up.
