2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Leak

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 128,000 miles. I recently started seeing some type of oil leak coming from under the back left side of my vehicle and t smells like gear oil. Checked and it appears to be under the left rear fender just below the gas fill. There seems to be some lines under there and don't know what they are. Any ideas of what this could be.

Is the rear diff vent around there?

Yes, I took it to a garage yesterday and they found the cap off the vent tube. They cleaned everything up and so far it appears to be ok. They were great. They didn't charge a thing, just asked to come back again for future service.
