Seems like every other week theres some new project I wanna start with my YJ. Although, this crazy scheme seems like one I actually would eventually go through with. I caught wind of a wrecked 01 Cadillac Deville (something involving a crash and a fire), and heard about the nifty camera they have in them. If (big 'if') I can get my hands on it (and if it isn't destroyed), I wanna try and take the thermo camera and display out of the car and fit it to my Jeep somehow. I know the display projects onto the windshield kinda like a fighter jet's HUD -- it sounds kind of hard to do with the near vertical windshield of my YJ. I was thinking I'd make it even more like a fighter's HUD, with a pane of glass mounted at an angle attached to the dash or something.
Anyway, that one seems like it'd be hard to do -- again, big if on getting my hands on the camera/display setup. I dont know much about it, but I figure it'd fetch a pretty fair price if salvaged. Other than that though, I do want to do some work on the dashboard. New guages and the like. Actually, if I can track down some kind of a digital speed guage, that'd be pretty sweet. I also want to get some small CCDs and some kind of display to show images around the car -- reverse camera, for example. Possibly even some cameras mounted under the Jeep to monitor things underneath, if need be. I'm going to fabricate a shelf for my laptop as well -- good use for my ATT wireless internet card, to be able to email and stuff when I'm on the road (I don't have a cell phone, so it'll be pretty useful and another excuse for me not to get a cell phone :P). Plus, it'll look kinda like a cop car inside, which would be pretty pimp.
For now, though, I have the realistic project of replacing a brake cylinder. Off to wail on that line fitting with a vise grip...
