I was told that a D44 from a 87 waggy is a complete bolt in axle in SUA for the YJ. Is that true???

From a grand wagoneer? No, they are a 6 lug axle and they're wider. From an XJ, yes but I believe the XJ's came in a spring over configuration from factory

Ok I thought that was to good to be true. Yes a xj is soa from the factory. So a xj D44 whould bolt into a soa set up on a yj?

correct, but it wouldn't take very much to get some spring perchs welded on to make it a drop in for a YJ. Buy the perchs from a dodge dealership and take it to a local garage and they could do for cheap, at least they should - there's not much welding involved.

If you want to match the angle of the perches on the D35 grab a magnetic angle finder and put it on the bottom of the diff where the rear drive shaft meets the axle. Take this measurement and tell the shop to weld it at that angle.
