hey guys, on 4wd the smittybilt bumpers are pretty cheap, was wondering what your opinions of them are...im looking at either the one with the two shackles and the 2 inch reciever thats made of 3/16 steel or there is also the rock crawler bumper made of 1/4 steel with the receiver only i think

or can you guys give some alternatives that are also cheap? the warn bumpers seem kinda expensive

I've never owned Smitty built stuff before. Generally that's because I formed an opinion on their stuff as being junk by all the posts I've read over the years complaining about them rusting out, etc..
Cheers,

I have the one with the 2 inch reciever. Reciever is junk, I put a bicycle rack in it and it flexes all over the place, it has no support. I've had it for about a year and it is starting to rust. It's not that I don't like it, just saying that you get what you pay for. I'll be blasting the whole thing and welding in my own supports to make it strong enough for my tastes.
Also, it says right on the bumper that the reciever is not for towing. I think if one were to use it as a recovery point the bumper would simply fold up. Mine was supposed to be 1/4" steel but it looks thinner than 3/16"

well i think that basically convinced me to avoid them...any other bumpers that would work good? keep in mind cost...and i want a receiver for a bike rack/snowboard rack....d rings would be nice too though i know you can add one to the receiver on most
