View Full Version : Can I use an 8.8 with ABS in my swap?

I want to swap my 94 yj D35 and have a line on a 97 explorer 8.8 with the right gearing. the only concern i have is the yj does not have abs. can i use this axle/brake system for my swap??

no you cant it will not work

the axle will work just fine. abs won't. Just leave the abs sensor in place in the rear axle and cut the wire off.
I just put a 1999 8.8 in my 1990 yj

Yup, you can use the axle just fine. Most of the Explorer 8.8 donors (if not all) are ABS equipped from the Exploders. You can leave the sensor in the axle housing or build a block-off plate. The tone ring on the carrier will not hurt anything.

I run an 8.8 with the disconnected ABS sensor in my YJ.
No issues :)
